Fatal error installing SAP GUI for Java on a mac

Hi experts,

I'm trying to install SAP GUI for Java on a mac (SAP GUI for Java 7.40 rev 3) but I got a fatal error saying:

       Internal exception: java.lang.NullPointerException    

Here is the error as read from the log:

Hi Sriram,

Thank you for your answer.

The mentioned thread was solved finding a corrupted PlatinGUI740 jar file.

Unfortunately, this seems not to be my case: I successfully installed my PlatinGUI740_3.JAR file on Ubuntu 15.10, so I believe the jar itself should be Okay.

My issue seems instead located within   'Darwin-localstart.jar not found'   and I have no clue about this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Flavio,

there are different installers of SAP GUI for Java for each platform, because SAP GUI for Java also uses native components. Please make sure to download the installer for OS X when installing on OS X.

Unfortunately, the filenames of installers downloaded from Service Marketplace do not include the OS name, the installer is intended for.

thank you for the information.

Indeed, the PlatinGUI jar I'm now trying to use is coming from the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.40 SP8 - Developer Edition download.

Unfortunately, I cannot download the OS X installer from SAP market place, as my user ID has no authorization for such an operation; I should contact the SAP administrator in my company and I fear this will not be easy to achieve......

Do you know if there is any other possibility to get the installer?
