1:n RFC/IDoc scenario without any mapping

Hello Colleagues,

one question please regarding a 1:n RFC/IDoc scenario without any mapping.

Example:

One ABAP System as sender system, several ABAP systems as receiver, connection is RFC/IDoc, no mapping, only message duplication to each receiver.

Is this scenario what you have to do over SAP PI or is more useful to do that with a direct RFC/IDoc connection incl. ALE?

My personal opinion is:

Form operation perspective you shouldn't do this because of, this is an additional not required factor regarding message load and source of error.

There is no need to have it on SAP PI, no Message or structure mapping, etc.

From development perspective it's makes much more easier.

But my question is with focus on operation.

Many thanks in advance!

Regards,

Jochen

Hi Jochen,

The scenario do not req. mapping if the data is passed by RFC. The only challange is control records of IDOC. If you need to change the control record (from the default one) then it needs mapping to change/update control records.

the advantage of having this integration via SAP PI is having Central monitoring of messages on SAP PI/PO.
