Message failed in PI due to Invalid xml characters ()

Hi,

This is a IDOC to File scenario.

Messages are being failed in PI because of invalid xml characters "&#" in production environment.

We replicated the same scenario taking the payload containing the invalid characters "&#" in Dev and QA environment and they have processed successfully without throwing any error.

Can anyone please help me in understanding what could be the issue.

Check that the RFC connection from the source system is Unicode or not? Ideally it should be Unicode (below is just an example of where to find the setting)

How to check encoding? Its a PI 7.4, we don't have ABAP stack.
