We are planning to build custom Firoi apps using SAP Web IDE to talk to SAP HANA XS engine to access odata services. In order to connect, i may need to deploy Gateway 2.0.

What are my options for deployment?

I looked at the prerequisites, looks like to i need to have Net weaver 7.40 to deploy Gateway 2.0? Please confirm.

We don't have Business Suite in our environment. So that is not an option.

Installation Prerequisites - SAP Gateway - SAP Library

7.4 is one of the option, you can install gw2.0 in lower nw version like 7.31.

Thanks. I knew we need NW 7.4.

My question is for my above requirement, Gateway is the only option to build Fiori apps using web iDE or any other alternates.

If Gateway is the only option, we need to configure NW Server. NW requires Solution manager right?

We are looking for simple approach instead of taking long approach.

Any suggestions please?

Of course i am not familiar in this area. That is the reason i am asking the question. I clearly defined my requirement above. I am not sure which part you did not understand.

If you are expert in that area, guide me.

Develop Fiori app (Ui5) using HANA as a data source.

Can you be more specific? We will be using Fiori WebIDE to develop app.

Hi Jawahar,

What Jun Wu wants to convey is that if you have SAP HANA installed in your landscape and you want to use it as data source for your custom developed, you don't need to install gateway separately. SAP Hana XS Engine is capable enough to create and expose OData services that you would like to use in your application. These SAP Hana XS engine OData services are call XSOData services. You can search for it to get more details.

Now coming to use these in WebIDE, there are two options to use WebIDE:

1. Local WebIDE - that is installed in your intranet and would be able to access XSOData services directly.

2. WebIDE on Hana Cloud Platform - to consume these XSOData services in WebIDE on HCP, you need to connect your local HANA system to HCP. For this you would need Hana Cloud Connector which would create a secure tunnel between local Hana system and HCP so that you would be able to consume XSOData services in WebIDE.

Regards,

Ekansh

seems you are not very clear about those product.

gw can provide odata service, xs engine also can.

so what you want?
