hI,

I am new to EWM and want the experts to address below question-

a) Can we have EWM without implementing WM in ECC

b) Can we install EWM without having any ECC component? If yes then how the CIFing will work for masterd ata like shipping point, customer, vendor etc

c) In order to have yard management, is it always an add on EWM and wheather separate licence cost are involve din order to get access to yard management

a) Can we have EWM without implementing WM in ECC

-> For Implementing EWM we just need to create one warehouse number in ECC which will be integrated with the EWM warehouse number along with the business system. Technically no need for ECC WM configuration.

b) Can we install EWM without having any ECC component? If yes then how the CIFing will work for masterd ata like shipping point, customer, vendor etc

-> I read some threads in SDN which says that they integrated EWM with some legacy system and the communication is through IDoc instead of RFC but not sure SAP really support this or not. If you have SAP ECC then its very easy to integrate with EWM as 99% communication is through qRFC and if you integrate TM then 1% via IDoc, which are also standard.

c) In order to have yard management, is it always an add on EWM and wheather separate licence cost are involve din order to get access to yard management

-> Yard Management is the part of EWM system itself. Once you decide to deploy EWM then you can have choice to activate yard management for particular warehouse, no need to buy additional license.

Hope this help.

Thanks,
Sandip

Hi,

In addition to sandeep,

We can deploy the EWM without ECC also.it can works fine.

For YARD management ,one EWM system is enough and we have two options

1. If you want to dedicated yard for only one WHN, you can activate yard mangement and maintain yard storage type

2. If you want use one yard for multiple WHNs ,create a new WHN for yard and use transportation cross docking.

While deploy the EWM , need to maintain the business system group as SAP system or not

About data uploads, EWM has its own options to upload apart from LSMW or BDC.

Hi,

Thanks for understanding. In case we cannot use ECC at all in that case do we manually maintain WH No in EWM and all the business partners and locations can be manually uploaded using LSMW or BDC?

Secondly how does EWM communicate with TM in terms of loaded quantities. Do I have the option to specify the quantities in EWM when truck enters the warehouse and shipping clerk has to load  the quantities from the staging areas to the truck ? In that case how does the laoded quantity information is passed on to TM?

Hi,

If you want to use OTR &DTR ,then you require ECC integration wih TM.advantage of SCM & SCE components are either we can use those as with ECC or standalone.here without ECC also we can integrate EWM and TM.

We can maintain the ligical systems and business systems in EWM & TM both systems for integration and transaction data processing including stocks.

Hi,

In this case can you exactly let me know how the loaded quantity  info flows from EWM to TM and exactly in which Tcode and field the loaded quantity  information is captured in EWM.

Secondly once loaded quantity info is updated in EWM, does it directly update events in TM system or only handling execution status is updated in TM ?

Hi,

Once after complete the TU in EWM, that TU status can move to TM module along with the TU and products list.

in EWM , we have shipment monitor & freight document monitor to get the relevant details.

Here is the path access the TM monitors

Sap easy access-SCM Extended Warehouse Management -Extended Warehouse Management -Shipping and Receiving -Transportation Management in EWM -Reporting
