Upgrade from 4.6c to 4.7

Hi,

I have to upgrade 4.6c to 4.7 enterprise. I want to know what all i have to do, prerequisites. Now in the kernel info. it shows EBCDIC, shall i have to convert it to ASCII/unicode or is there no need? Do we have any detailed document other than the SAP upgrade guide. What are the challenges I can face?

I have 4.6c installed on V5R3, what PTFs or patches or what else shall I check before proceeding?

Thanks for the help!

Regards,

Sai R

Is the EBCDIC-ASCII Codepage Conversion mandatory? Can't we do this conversion on our own? If no, then whom should I consult since I dont know a certified candidate for this purpose.

This is the 1st time I'll be doing an upgrade on Iseries system. What PTF level is required.

I recommended for ERP upgrade, but they have some license issues. So, I'll have to make it with 4.7. Do we have any links, documents or books for the upgrade.

Please let me know.

Hi Sai,

sorry to say that, but with these questions, I can only suggest, that you get backup support from an experienced person - otherwise, it will become a desaster ...

Hi Sai,

as I answered to your mail to my inbox already:

yes, you are full on track !

4.6 is that last EBCDIC release. Therefore, you have to do the EBCDIC-ASCII Codepage Conversion first. You (or I) need to be certified for that.

Then you can upgrade your system "as you are used to".

Isn't it possible, that the customer purchases the ERP license ? An upgrade to 4.7 today is TOTALLY crazy in my eyes ...

If you are interested in more information, please let me know.

P.S.: Please use either the forum OR private eMail but not both - otherwise it is just duplicate effort.
