Add new dimension to existing model (without deleting existing data)

Hi:

We are in 10.1 Netweaver release on 7.4. We are trying to add new BPC dimension to an existing model with data. System returns tihis message " Modify model XXX failed. Model XXX has

transaction data". Looking for OSS notes we found this one, 2149043 - "Modify model XXX failed. Model XXX has transaction data".  In impact side the note says ....

Impact: Customers need to copy data from the first model to the second model and do again their Securities for this new model. With BPC 7.5 or

BPC 10 cusomters had the possibility to add a new dimension into an existing model without deleting data. BPC reposted data on the first

member of this new dimension.

Someone knows how do that?

Thnaks in advance,

Abel López

Based on this note it's due to ENABLE_FIXED_CUBENAME has been switched on! Without this parameter you can add dimension to the cube with transaction data... And it's reasonable.

What is your core BPC version and SP?

I recommend to upgrade to the latest and test again...

Looks like something was corrected in SAPK-81009INCPMBPC

Dear Abel,

Were you able to resolve the issue by upgrading to SP09? We are also facing the same problem and we are at SP08.

Could you suggest SAP notes or code corrections helpful for resolving this issue

Appreciate any help.

Hi Sanjana:

We not found a SAP solution and we can not apply SP09 in this moment of migration, so we had to made bakcup and restore solution. First backup data to new cube, empty, add new dimension to model and restore data.

Abel
