Unable to connect from Portal

Hi,

I am trying to connect to MDM 5.5 SP4 from my 2004s Portal.

Following the Installation guide for Portal Content, with this I had success till installing the MDM business content and Creating MDM System ID with alias in the EP.

I had mapped the user using the personalization link for system access in EP. When I test the connection this is what I see...

Test Details:

The test consists of the following steps:

1. Retrieve the default alias of the system

2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object

Results

Retrieval of default alias successful

Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct.

I am able to connect to the MDM server using the MDM Data Manager client with the same login/pwd that I used in EP mapping... any clue?!

Has anybody seen this before or know what is going on ?

Thanks in advance.

Sunil

KAL,

Thanks for the suggestion. Let me know if you can get it to work. I was following the instructions per the link below that say use the "Personalization Link" in Portal.

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/371b0f79-0d01-0010-47a7-e33...

I will give the MDM Portal Content Doc a try as well. Thanks once again.

I just got it to work following the Portal Content doc for SP05 even though we're on SP04.

https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000286512007E

I created a group for MDM Admin and assigned the EU_Role and MDM 5.5 Admin role. I then went to my user and assigned the MDM Group I created per the doc and mapped my MDM UID to the Alias (SAP_MDM_Repository_Prod). I was able to successfully test the system and create a Result set iview.

Hi Sunil,

I have come accross the same issue.

Please give correct user name and password in the user mapping. It is case sensitive. It worked for me.

Thanks,

I have checked the username and password. Does the user need to be set in any specific way in any of the two systems? I am able to login in to MDM using the MDM client apps. Has anyone seen this before?? or is there a way to look at any of the logs to find out what the problem could be?

Thanks,

Sunil

I've seen this sometimes when the connection between the MDM server and the Portal server is quite slow. The error you are encountering could be a "timeout".

Try using an empty repository and see what happens. Also make sure you have all the components on the same patch/hotfix

Hi Sunil,

Solution is create User(Admin) and password(should not be null) in ur console.

When u do user mapping use these user ids and password.

U will able to connect ur Repository.

If it solvs ur problem, provide me Max Points.

Best Regards

It's my understading that you need to create an MDM group and assign a role and user. Within the Group you create in Identity Management you assign the mapping in the User Mapping for System Access tab, NOT in the personalization link.

This is noted in the document SAP provides for MDM 5.5 SP04 - Enterprise Portal Content.

However, you may run into another issue I'm having. When you go into the User Mapping for System Access there are no Systems available even though the access and properties are defined correctly for the MDM system.

I forgot the "MDM 5.5 SP05 - Enterprise Portal Content" can be found on the MD Documentation Center.
