Put away Strategy "I", system should not overlook different materials bins available capacity.

Dear All,

I am using Put away Strategy "I" & i am facing Following Problem.

When i am converting TR - TO for material already present in bin than system will consider that bin only, if bin capacity is less , than system will not do addition to another bin where capacity is available  because different material in lying in it, system will always search for new bin.

For Example :-

Material CHIP001 exist in Bin no - 01-01-01, Qty - 50 Pcs, Bin Capacity = 100 Pcs.

Material CHIP002 exist in Bin no - 01-01-02, Qty - 60 Pcs, Bin Capacity = 100 Pcs.

If i convert TR - TO for Material CHIP001, Qty 70 Pcs, in this case system will suggest bin no - 01-01-01 for 50 Pcs & overlook capacity available in

Bin 01-01-02 & suggest new bin.

Is there any solution to this problem system should consider bin capacity of different material also for suggesting bin, if capacity is not available than it should go for next empty Bin.

Pl. Suggest.

SAP does not split a TO item for you based on remaining capacity,  you have to split the TO and then SAP can try to find a proper space.

How should SAP know that your quantity of 100 can be splitted in parts?

And how should SAP know if this can be done at any quantity or only by a quantity of 50?

PCS is just 3 characters that have a meaning for an user  but nothing more than bits and bytes for a computer, not much different from LTR, but I guess you would not want SAP to split a drum of 200 ltr oil into 2 pieces.

Thanks for your reply, but i think there is some gap.

My Question is

1. I have Done GR For 70Pcs - Material CHIP001, it will Trigger TR Automatically For GR Qty = 70pcs.
2. Convert TR - TO at this point of time system will suggest bins for Put away.

So My Question is during TR - To conversion system is suggesting bins with same material & having capacity available in it.

IF Capacity is not available in same material than system always suggest new empty bin & ignores available capacity in another bins. - With Strategy "I"

Bin Search Requirement :-

Step - 1 - Firstly, search the storage bin that contains same material.

Step -  2 - if above search failed, then search another non-empty storage bin.

Step -  3 - IF above both points fail than system should suggest empty bin.

But system is not executing "Step-2", which is creating lot of problems.

Is there any way out to above Problem in put away Strategy "I".

I even wonder how you could get a TO for 70 if you have only 50 capacity left in Bin no - 01-01-01

HI,

For Remaining 20 system will suggest available empty bin.

Finally 50  in Bin 01-01-01, remaining 20 in available empty bin.

So as per your above reply there is not way out for it i have to take help of Technical Team to add this functionality.
