Project Scheduling issue in the project planning board

Dear PS experts,

     I have an issue while making project scheduling i have a project as below:

WBS 1 ---------------
Act 1    -------
            ACT 2--------

                       WBS2-----------------
                        ACT 3--------
                                   ACT4 --------

all the activities is FS relationship

when i trying to change the relationship between act 2 and act 3 to be SS
scheduling conflict happened as the dates of ACt 3 , 4 and WBS 2 doesn't changed .
my scheduling method : WBS determine dates so the dates of the WBS should be cleared manually and after that making scheduling

I have attach a file of my scheduling configuration.

and i am asking if anyone have automatic solution for this issue ???

Hi Ahmed,

Your schedulign configuration is incorrect. As well as I see you have "WBS determines dates" exist. However you need to determine dates by the network. In the project profile, make sure you make "Strict Bottom-up Planning" . Then once you re-schedule all WBS dates will align to network dates. This is the best practice.

   1-  could you please till me what exactly incorrect in my scheduling configuration ?
2- i make WBS determine dates because i make network assignment to WBS element not to project definition so every WBS element have it's own network so what is the solution ?

Ahmed,

1) OPSA: Proj profile, tab "Planning Board/Dates"

a) Scheduling scenario:1, Wbs scheduling profile : Today Scheduling Fwd.

b) Check "with activities"

c) Planning method: 4 - Strict bottom up to both

d) Calculating with act: 1 - taking activity dates into consideration

Check these settings please. Therefore you should not enter any dates to the WBS elements. By these settings all dates wil be populated by the network dates.

This my settings in project profile number C is only display i can not change it and the problem still exist any other idea ?

Also check the Project/WBS, they should NOT determine the dates....only network activities should.

It is on WBS elements. Check the tab "dates" and also check the project. I am not able to see it since not in front of the system.

Where i can make the network activities determine dates not the network nor WBS element because i assign network for every WBS element ??

I already defined id in the config steps, Project Profile  @ OPSA transaction

You must select : Strict-bottom up planning
