Background Job runs long time on Sunday

Hi Guys,

I have a kind of issue like an extraction job triggered from BI system (SAP_BW - Release 731) to ECC 6 (EHP7 FOR SAP ERP 6.0) takes 4-6 hours only on particular day in a week. Every time it happens in ECC side. The same background job triggered from BI system daily 3 times and takes only 10 to 15 min except this one day.

I checked few things in ECC side;

1. There is no resource bottleneck during the long run

2. I didn't see any lock during this execution

3. I did trace in ST12 and checked the statement where it spent most of its time. The statement looks fine ( because it picks the right index and moreover it happens only on particular day so it is really not an expensive statement issue)  

What else do I need to check? Could you please give your suggestion?

Hi Arun,

As it only takes place on a certain day, then it's unlikely to be the extract.  I would start looking at other things:

1. What else is occurring at that time?  Backups, for example.

2. Check the server loads - ST06 and OS tools

3. What else is scheduled at that time?  If this is Windows, is there a virus scan running?

Hope that gives some pointers.
