System Resfresh Through Backup --Restore methode

Dear Gurus,
my environment is --AIX+Sybase ASE
my client need System Refresh ony with DB refresh methode and i am not familiar with this as i am too new to BASIS and very new to Syabse ASE.
studied noted and googed it but got confused about drooping user db and renaming it creating dbdevices and etc
could any1 please guide me

Hi Anshul

     as i undersatnd you want to Restore SID DB to another SID ?

but why you use this method in refresh system , you can use copy client it will be more easy for you

i want to system refresh actually... my IT-Head asked for BACKUP-REstore methode.

Hi Anshul

i did it before , it is not difficult but i think it is not the best bract , any way

first you will take full offline Backup from the source system , then move it to the target system & make restore

Backup " in source system " :

dump database XXX to 'Q:\Backup\XXX.dmp'

with compression = 6

where :
XXX = DB name in source system

Q:\Backup\ = path where you will save the backupt

transfer the back up file to the target system

Restore " in target system " :

load database ZZZ to 'H:\Backup\XXX.dmp'

with compression = 6

where :
ZZZ= DB name in target system

H:\Backup\ = path where backup exist

we dont have sybase central ...all i have to do with isql...

use same syntax that in my guide , i used it in both ISQL or sybase central
