Hi,
Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERPs) integrate (or attempt to integrate) all data and processes of an organization into a unified system. A typical ERP system will use multiple components of computer software and hardware to achieve the integration. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a unified database to store data for the various system modules.

faule message types are used to get the application specific errors from the receiving system, suppose you are doing a File to IDOC scenario and the R/3 system is down, then the fault message type will tell the sender file system that the R/3 system is down.
the response message does not tells u about application spscific errors.
thanx

Hi,
Fault messages are defined while creating message interfaces. The defined fault message can be used in BPM scenarios.
