Deletion of Batches at EWM level

Hi Experts,

Our client doesnt have an ECC environment. We have connected EWM with mainframe (Order processing system). Many limitations are there with this connectivity.

One such is number range restriction for product. They are reusing the old product number as an work around.

If the old product is batch managed, then they cannot use the same number for a non batch product.

Is there any standard way we can delete the batches at EWM level.

Please guide us. Looking forward for your valuable inputs.

Regards,

Vijay

Hi!

What the restriction of product do you have?

I think reuse old number - it's not good idea.

Hi Alex,

Sorry for the delay in response. We have number range restriction (Max: 5 digits 99999) in non-sap system. So they are reusing the product once deleted.

In case of dependencies, we are clearing the flags of the material. So that they can reuse it for a  different product.

But with batches, we cant able to achieve the same.

Hi!

I recommend to create a new product code in SAP EWM when you reuse material in external system.

Maybe you need additional table with some logic to mapping product.

Also you can use different material in SAP EWM with same external number. Business group may be as version of product in external system.

Hi Vijay,

Were you able to have a solution to delete the batches.

Even we have a similar kind of scenario.

Currently we are deleting the batch entries at SAP table level from table "/SCWM/VERSKEY" and then unchecking the batch Mgmt indicator from the Product.

Thanks,
Ganesh

Hi Vijay,

As per your requirement , your EWM is connecting to a non SAP system. for this you can use the business system group functionality where we can maintain the legacy system is a SAP 'or' non SAP.

path :1) spro-SCM Extended Warehouse Management-SCM Basis-Integration-Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape-Maintain Business System Group

2)  spro-SCM Extended Warehouse Management-SCM Basis-Integration-Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape-Assign Logical System and Queue Type

coming to product master , if stock is available against any batch managed material, it is not possible to delete.

if you want to re use product numbers please use the BAdi : APOCF005.
