HANA Users

Hello,

Is it possible to create HANA users as a repository object without schema?

If not what is the implication of creating 1000 users with 1000 schemas in the HANA DB.

Thanks,

Amir

No you can not create a HANA user as a repository object.

No you can not create a HANA user without it having a corresponding user schema.  That user schema is important as it is used internally to hold temporarily generated database artifacts for that user.

What exactly is that you are concerned about?

Hi Thomas,

From my point of view DB User means very hard to maintain:

1. Delete users after he is gone might delete objects inside the system (if they were created by him as DB objects)

2.copy users doesn't copy its rols.

Are there any other implications\Disadvantages?

Thanks,

Amir

Amir,

for one of your points above - you may clone a user in the system by right click on the user, then select copy user.

yes deleting the user will remove its objects

Hi Sergio,

cloning the users only copy the user but doesn't copy the authorizations-at least when using DB authorizations . Does it copy repository roles?

Otherwise copying users doesn't do much...Thanks,

Amir
