SFTP and Secure SMTP through SDK

Hi everyone,

In BI 4.1 SP6 there is the ability to schedule Webi reports to SFTP and secure email. We currently use the Enterprise .NET SDK (XI 3.1 SP6) to integrate report scheduling into our .NET application and this works fine with our BI 4.1 SP3 installation.

If we wish to make use of the new SFTP and secure email functionality do we need to upgrade our .NET SDK to the latest BI 4.1 SP6 or can we continue to use our existing XI 3.1 SP6 SDK?

Can we make use of RESTful web services instead of the .NET SDK to schedule reports to SFTP and secure email?

Thanks,

Chris

hello Christian,

Anthony already answered about SFTP, but what more precisely do you call "Secure SMTP" and how do you select it on BI Launchpad and/or Central Management Console?

Thanks,

eric

Hi Eric,

Secure SMTP is SMTP over SSL. When you schedule a Webi report and choose email as the destination you will see the 'Enable SSL' checkbox at the bottom of the page.

I have found out that both the 'Enable SSL' and SFTP destination are available in the BI Platform 4.1 SP6 .NET SDK but not in the Webi 4.1 SP6 RESTful Web Services API.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Christian and Anthony,

We will include  this as part of Restful SDK enhancements as a backlog to our item in platform SDK and have a look at it. Will reach out in case additional information is required.

Hello Christian, Sorry for late answer. Regarding your question about SFTP support, it will be added in Web Intelligence RESTful API in 4.2.x releases. Hope BIP Team would brings additional information about its REST API. Anthony

Hi Anthony,

OK thanks for this information. Why is it in the WebI RESTful API when it is a BI platform feature? Should it be in the BI Platform RESTful API?

Thanks,

Chris

We're two different teams and I'm the architecte responsible for Web Intelligence and Semantic Layer APIs.

I will try to get this information about BIP side.
