Hello everyone,
Would changing the customer name cause any problem in other areas such as accounting, credit and e.t.c.?
Could you please tell me exactly which fields this change would have an effect on?
Thank you,
Kübra
Changing customer name will not have any problem in terms of transaction, credit, etc. Reason being that customer name does not form part of customer line item tables (eg BSID)
The customer name which you store against the customer code is referenced to at the time of creation/printing of invoices; at the time of generating communication (dunning, account statement etc.) or at the time of making payments.
So when you will be changing the customer name it will simply pick the updated customer name against the customer code.

Hi Kubra,
If you are changing master data such as(sales area data or company code data ) there will be problems because in old documents you will find only the old data not the new one that you have updated.

Hi Kubra,
There will not be any problem if you change customer address or name etc. only these changes in master data will be updated in all the records created any other than (General data ) will affect the order as it will not be updated in the order or any records .
There will not be any problems in credit management or any other configuration.

Hi Kubra
If you are checking for any impact of Change in Customer Name on the Accounting, Credit Management and ETC (Estimate To Complete) process, then such change will not have any impact except for output forms/print outs wherever name of the customer is printing.
For instance -
Accounting Entry printouts will have New Customer Name
Credit Management Correspondences will have New Customer Name in place of Old Customer Name.
ETC cycle will be untouched. Forms/Printouts will have the new party name.
Note - Changing the name of the customer will change for all company codes in your Org. Structure so you have to assess the impact accordingly if all Company Code owners are agreeing to show their respective printouts with new name.
Hope it helps.
Regards

First of all there is no change in accounting, credit control or any others, changes is, SAP display the new customer name in all entry screen or documents, either it is old document (before change name) or new document which is created after change.
SAP maintain only change log but here is no effect from to date filtration.
In concern of customer name SAP looks customer code for any document.
Table: ADRC Fields are NAME1, NAM2
Table: KNA1 fields are NAME1, NAM2

Hello Kübra,
Changing Customer name will not impact anything in Accounting or Credit Management since everything is based on Customer Code and not Customer Name.
What will impact is outputs. For example, if you re-print 9after name change) any past Invoice, it will now be printed with new name. I see the impact of Customer Name change in Fields of KNA1 and ADRC Tables.
