Does VSD needed to configure HCM as identity source?

Hi gurus,

in IDM 8.x

if I want to configure HCM as identity source, should I use VSD?

Is it a must thing?

Hi Dongsu,

It depends on how you want to connect HCM system.

I had tried HCM-IDM connection without VDS using a csv export in my 1st implementation, before I got acquainted with VDS.

But, there is an out-of-box, easy to use config template in VDS that can be used to achieve HCM-VDS-IDM connection for personnel management. Since then I never gave thought about any other method. Steps are neatly explained in below link.

to use VDS must be a methods of choice.

some more ..

1. does VDS need additional cost?

2. In real customer environment, which team is in charge of export job?

(HR team or IDM team?)

Hello Dongsu,

1) No, VDS is part of SAP IDM. Please check 8.x install files. You should see "Virtual Directory Server 8.x"something folder.

2) Export job is set up by IDM team. But Job monitoring can be with BASIS team or IDM team. HR team will help if you want to edit the query to include more attributes to be exported to VDS-IDM.
