running off background job need variant

Hi All,

I am trying to schedule a job running "RSSNAPDL".

When reading one of the SAP library, I saw that I must create a variant.

I tried to schedule the job without creating any variant and also never assign any variant to it. But its ran finish with status "Finished" and the job log show no error.

Can anyone kindly advice is it a must for me to create a variant but I am able to ran with no error and what the effect of not having a variant created or assign to it?

Thanks for the answer. Is it okay for more then one ABAP program to share one variant?

nope, variants are program dependent and cannot be copied over. Anyway, it would not make sense as screen selections vary from program to program.

Hello,

In se38 execute RSSNAPDL it will ask you for two things

Max. entries to be kept

Entries which can be deleted

enter the values for these.

Click Goto tab -

---

>Variant----->Save as variant. Give a name for the variant say XXX and save it.

While scheduling the job use this variant in this case XXX.
