Hi Sejal,

Thank you very much for the info.

I am renewing the APNS push certificate by following the link http://frontline.sybase.com/support/resolutionDetails.aspx?KBID=7779 , everything went fine as per the screenshot(APNS Renewal) it shows its been renewed and shows next year date.

But when i follow the last step in the KB to install the certificates on the Afaria Server, not sure if it went through fine or not after I select install and the password and then saved it in afaria console. But when I validate it shows next month as per the screen shot(server).

Please help me regarding this I am new to Afaria.

Thanks

Dear HK Bala,

Seems like the Afaria server has not taken the renewed APNS MDM certificate. Please take a look at this support notes which helps you further http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1892830

Hope this helps.

Hi HK,

As Sushmitha pointed out the KBA, delete the old APNS cert from the server's MMC store and then attempt to install the new one.

steps:

1. From server, Start -> Run -> MMC

2. Add snap in for Certificates and select Computer account

3. Go to Personal certificate store and find the old APNS cert. Remove the Old certificate

4. Go back to Admin UI and install the new APNS and then validate.
5. Go back to MMC store -> Personal cert store and verify the new cert is there

Hello HK,

As you know there are two APNS certificates.

1. MDM APNS certificate which is use to manage iOS devices. This certificate expires every year and you will have to renew it from Apple's cert portal. The renew option is available on Apple's cert portal to renew this MDM APNS certificate.

2. APNS certificate to send Notification to Custom Afaria client : This cert also expires every year but there is NO renew button to renew it. You will have to generate a new one under same APP ID. So go ahead and select create certificate. Here is the KBA for your reference.

I hope this helps!

Hi Sejal,

Thanks for your quick reply.

The KB article 1931188 shows on how to generate an APNS certificate, could you please provide me with the step by step process to renew the certificate.

As I now stuck at below screen, can you provide me with the info from were we can get the .certsigningrequest file from?

HK

Dear Bala,

When you create a CSR certificate in STEP-8, the file will be saved on your local machine and if it is in a MAC, the file name would be .certSigningRequest file. You should be uploading the file from your local machine/MAC and then generate the .CSR file.

Do let us know if any difficulties.

Hi Sushmitha,

So I just need to follow the process of creating a APNS Certificate from Windows Server using IIS Manager right?

Dear Sekhar,

Yes, if not MAC then you should follow the process of creating the APNS cert from Windows IIS Manager.

Hope everything goes well:)

Hi Sekhar,

As Sushmitha mentioned, follow the Windows IIS manager steps. To answer you question on renew process, I already mentioned in my previous thread that there is NOT a way to renew custom Afaria client notification APNS cert. There is NO option in Apple's portal. So you will have to create a new one. You DO NOT want to revoke your existing one. Just create new one. Apple allow you to create a second certificate. As long as it is created under same APP ID, you're ok.

Thanks,
Sejal

Sekhar,

If you are still having problems with this, please have a look at this document: http://frontline.sybase.com/support/documents/Afaria/Afaria_Custom_App_Instructions_v3.pdf. It describes the process of creating a new Distribution certificate. As Sejal mentions, you can have two distribution certs for one application id. When all instances of the app using the old cert have been upgraded, you can delete the old one to make room for the next one in a few years.

Hello HK,

Here is the KBA link which describes steps for generating/renewing APNS certificate for Custom Afaria Client. Please note there is no renew button on Apple portal to renew the APNS cert for custom Afaria client. Please do not revoke your existing one, just create the new one using the same APP ID.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.
