I mean I don't want to use WM but I want to use handling units for some products is it possible? If yes can you please suggest me the config on how to receiving and issuing the same material with Handling Unit?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply

My scenario is little bit different:

We receive raw materials like nuts and we are using 10 dozen in one finished product. We want all in small bag and then in a box.

How can I put these nuts in a bag?

We receive a material and it creates material document and I want them to be packed under handling unit.

Please explain

Thanks

Shiv

Hi Shiv,

regarding your scenario :

1)Create Packing materials (VERP).

a) Small Bag (b) BOX

2) Create PAcking Instructions POP1 transaction

set the rule here

that 1 Small Bag = 10 nuts.

again createanother packing insruction with pack material = BOX (P type)

and material (I (Instruction))

rule is I BOX= 1 BAG .

SO U ARE USING MULTIPLe hierarchy packing insructions.

4) do packing deterination in POF2 transaction.

this will solve ur problem.

POP1:Create packing insturction

Packing Instrution is a kind of Rule to Define that how do you want to pack your material.

Suppose you have 100 units of Raw material and 1 unit of any PAck material

So you can Define here My material should be packed in such manner :

1PAck material (Box) contain 50 Units of Raw materal.

for this you will having 2 Boxes.

So in POP1 you just Craete your Rules of packing.

2) Fields to select in POP1 ;

Component : First material should be pack material (Item Category P )in which you will pack the other material

Another material should be "M" material the ordinary material.

Create 2 types of material in MM01 1) Pack Material(VERP) 2) Raw Material(ROH)

Give Check Profile:

check profile used to determine the packing status of the handling units for this packing instruction. In the packing status check profile, you define appropriate packing statuses for the possible ways in which an HU proposal can differ from the packing instruction.

Mention the qtyies.define in manner that suppose 1 unit of PACK = 10 units of ROH

POF1:Packing Determination:

This is to create a condition Records like Pricing if you are familier with Pricing.

In this there is a Procedure at the top and Then Determination Type (Condition Type) Like RCPT(if Packing on MM side) ,SHIP(If Packing on SD side)

Then some key combination will appear on the screen ,those are Access Sequences(Comination of various table fields).

whatever sequence will you select the contion record you have to enter in POF1 transaction.

it depends on the Contion Type i.e your Determination Type ,Which access Sequence type to select.

in this way POP1 and POF1 transaction work.

Let's say you want to pack a material M1 in test_pack.

Using MM01, create material type=packaging test_pack

[SPRO]

IMG-Logistics Execution-Shipping-Packing-

Define Packaging Material Types

Let's say JPAC. The settings that I chose:

Plant determ. - Plant is entered manually in handling unit

Pack. matl. cat. - Packaging materials

Generate Dlv. Items - blank

Number assignment - Number range interval 'HU_VEKP'

IMG-Logistics Execution-Shipping-Packing-

Define material group for packaging material

Let's say JGRP

IMG-Logistics Execution-Shipping-Packing-

Define allowed packaging materials

JGRP - JPAC

MM02: Check settings for the materials

First, test_pack

Sales:General/Plant -> Matl. Grp. Pack. Matls: JGRP (Note)

Sales:General/Plant -> Packaging Mat. Type: JPAC (Note)

Basic Data 1 -> Material: JMAT

Then, M1

Sales:General/Plant -> Matl. Grp. Pack. Matls: JGRP

Sales:General/Plant -> Packaging Mat. Type: -

Basic Data 1 -> Material: JMAT

VL01N Outbound Delivery -> Packing

Enter the materials at top and at bottom

(Select M1 and

Edit - Pack)

This is how the basic process of packing works.

u need to work with packing module in SD.

Packing is addressed either with Packing material or Handling unit. SAP supports various levels of packing. You can use a packing material created under material type VERP or u can use an Hanling Unit like container or truck in packing the material.

you need to customise in packing and accordingly assign in the material master in recognising the allowed packaging material for your products.
