Hello Experts,
Good day to one and all.
Am reading the CU&UC document to Understand the procedures and to perform a Proof Of Concept on Upgrade.
Conversion of an MDMP system to Unicode is part of the Upgrade and we have to Perform the vocabulary remediation before proceeding with Upgrade.
In order to complete the vocabulary, we have to run the table scans and assign languages to the words marked in the Vocabulary table by the Language experts and proceed with the processing steps.
Need your help in understanding couple of queries:
- Suppose, the language assignment performed by Language expert is Wrong how would this impact on the Upgraded system
- If the response for the above question would be an impact, then do we have an workaround to fix it at a later stage
- Does the number of Languages installed impact the Overall Unicode Conversion downtime i.e for Export and Import
Thanks.

Hi Kumar,
Incorrect assignments in the vocabulary usually increase the number of reprocessing logs, which should be maintained in the pre-phase of the upgrade as well. In the worst case wrong assignments can result in wrong conversions of specific database entries (and you are not aware of it). They will probably come up later during productive usage of the system (or hopefully already during testing in the test system). Usually this can be corrected with transaction SUMG (see CU&UC guide).
The number of installed languages affect the Unicode conversion downtime (export/import) via increased database size. However usually this is only a small fraction of the overall downtime.
Best regards,
