automatic sale order number assign in production order

My client is using strategy group 40 but MRP requirement comes only from sales order because they do not prepare material without sale order. now i need sale order number in production order for some z-report but they are using make to stock scenario ( strategy group 40). anyone can suggest me any config or any possibility.

My suggestion is not to use Strategy 40.  Instead use a MTO strategy, such as 50.

In strategy 40, it is possible to have 1 sales order to one production order

But also, it is possible to have

Many sales orders to one production order

Many production orders to one sales order

1 production order to no sales orders.

In addition, the relationship between sales orders and production orders can change from day to day in Strategy 40.  So, the 'sales order in production order' may be one sales order today, but a different sales order tomorrow.

I doubt that the Z report can be written that will meet the definition you have stated. and still meet the requirements under all possible scenarios.
