Inventory Transfer of items set for serial number on release only

I have a client who is using bins and serial numbers for items On Release Only.  When they receive an item they are not prompted to enter a serial number which is what we expect and want.

The issue we have now is that when they try and do an Inventory Transfer for those items the system prompts them to choose the serial number to transfer.  I’m assuming this is because it is considered a goods issue by the system and therefore you need to choose a serial number(s) to transfer. 

Because the item is set to On Release Only for serial numbers no serial numbers have been defined yet so you can choose them.

How can we complete an Inventory Transfer for an item set to create serial numbers On Release Only?  Is there some setting that I'm missing?

Hi Jeff,

Your assumption is absolutely correct.

If an Item is set for a Serial Number on Release Only then you must create serial number before issuing the stock from the same warehouse. I think there is no other settings.

Inventory transfer is not consider as release.

I suggest u to use SP_TN to block such transaction without S/N
