SUM SP15 not working due no use the browser-based SL Common GUI

Dear Experts

I amtrying to udate Solution manager sp04 to SP14 for this I was download SUM sp15 and run it when I open web browser and run http://solmanIP or hostname:4239   following information SUM prompt and not option to continue .

"The standalone Software Update Manager GUI is no longer supported. You have to use the browser-based SL Common GUI. For more information,

   see section SL Common Graphic User Interface of the SUM user guide"

and when I give SL port in browser http://solmanIP or hostname:4241 in SUM STARTUP terminal shows follwing errors

as per network team both ports are open ( I also run above steps in solman server browser but no luck

Please guide me how to resolve it

Hi Antonio,

It has been discontinued from SAP.

Now we have to use only SUM1.0 SP16 patch6(the latest one)

This requires saphostagent update mandatory.

I have the latest SUM1.0 SP16 patch 10 and updated the saphostagent but still the same error. may you urgently advise how to proceed.

What is the application you are upgrading and what is the error you are getting.

Also let me know the command you are using to start the SUM.

Hello Manas,

i have a similar problem. I'm trying to update the MDM Catalog UI. I tried SUM1.0 SP16 Patch 10 and 11 but whenever i call "http://<Hostname>:4239" it tells me SUM is no longer available for standalone. So from what I've read I have to call the SL Common UI since SP13/14(!?).

So when i call this URL:

"http://<Hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumjava/<SID>/index.html"

I get an XML Error and the SL Common UI won't start. I've tried IE, FF, Chrome; none of them works.

XML-Verarbeitungsfehler: Kein Element gefunden (this means sth like: XML-Processingerror: no element found)

Adresse: http://<Hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumjava/<SID>/index.html

Zeile Nr. 1, Spalte 1:

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Thorsten,

This thread is already marked as answered so you might not get quick response, it's always good to have a new thread for new issue.

However to overcome this issue you will have to use

SUM1.0 SP16 patch6(the latest one) which requires saphostagent update.

Hi Khizer,

SAP chenged the ui. Now you can enter the sum by (for linux):

Start the Server:

root> cd <SUM-directory>

root> ./STARTUP confighostagent <SID>

Then enter the GUI:

For JAVA

http://<Hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumjava/<SID>/index.html

For ABAP

http://<Hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumabap/<SID>/doc/sluigui.html

For Dual Stack

http://<Hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumjava/<SID>/dual.html

Looks Like it is a bug from SAP.
As there are no previous versions of SUm tools available and we have to rely only on beta version SUM1.0 SP16. Patch 2.

OS:Windows Server 2008 R2 version 6.1 Build 7601 Service Pack 1

DB: Oracle 11.2.0.3.0

SAP Host Agent 7.21 with latest patch

http://<hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumjava/<SID>/dual.html returns no content even after succesfully registering SUM in SAP Host Agent and providing the username and password asked.

Hi experts,

this seems to be a permission problem (guess, you can't hear this anymore).

My browser (IE and firefox) didn't show any content after logging in with SIDADM in SLUI.

In Opera SUM gave me an error message back and this is described in SUM SP16 Guide (see screenshot). The URL doesn't matter if dual stack, java, abap or observer...

I guess, most of you uncar SUM with root user, make sure SIDADM has full permission to SUM directory afterwards! This worked for me.

SAP released SUM1.0 SP14 Patch 3, just today.

Hi Khizer,

Please check the SUM central note 2155664 . SUM SP15 should be used for NW 750 upgrade/update.

For solution manager system, please use SUM SP13 or SUM SP14.
Please download the corresponding SUM guide for current version and technology (ABAP/JAVA/Dual) and then try again.

Hi Gaurav,

I am trying to complete an upgrade on my system. Unfortunately I pulled the wrong SUM (SP15) when I downloaded my files. SP15 is only for NW 7.50, I just realized that when running SUM last night. SP16 is the newest SUM but it will not work for my upgrade either since I pulled my files before SP16 was even released, I already tried it. On the marketplace it says if I need to use SP14 I need to get the guide from SAP. I have chatted online w/ someone from SAP, talked on the phone w/ someone plus I opened an incident. Is there any way I can get that guide?  I need to get started on this upgrade.

I am sorry but I could not understand the statement about why SUM SP16 will not work.
Could you provide more information.

I think it should allow you to perform the upgrade which can be done with SUm SP14.

Yes the upgrade is allowing me to use SP14 but I need the guide for SP14. I was told by SAP to post here in the Community and an expert could provide me the guide. Can you provide the SP14 SUM guide?
