Arul ,

It does not make sence to install server and client tools on same machine.Since we have 4-5 developers going to work on this MDM component , is there a way in Server i can install only Server compoenet and clients at desktop?

If yes , what are the server and client components mandatory ?Then how will it be connect both server and clients .Is there a database connection ?

Thanks,

Hi Kristene,

You can install the required server components in server based on your requirement.

Find the commonly used ones below.

Server Components (32 Bit or 64 Bit depending on your server) Corresponding Client tools to access

MDM Server Console and Data Manager

Import Manger Import Manager Client

Syndication Server Syndicator

After the server is installed, Install the client components in all the client system that will access.

Then when you log in to client tools for example Console it will ask for the MDM server name. For example if you have used SQL Server as the back end server. Then MDM Server Name nothing but your SQL Server Name. Then every thing is common.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kristene,

You can create one server and 'n' number of Client systems.

For example,

Install Server components in one machine,

MDMServer64Install_Ver5.5.x.x

MDMServerInstall_Ver5.5.X.X

MDMConsoleInstall_Ver5.5.X.X

(U can install all the components too)

First mount server and load the repository in server machine.

Install Client components in all other machines

MDMConsoleInstall_Ver5.5.X.X

MDMDataManagerInstall_Ver5.5.X.X

MDMImportManagerInstall_Ver5.5.X.X

MDMImportSyndicatorInstalll_Ver5.5.X.X

You can connect the server through any of the client machine using the console.

Follow the steps to remotely connect the server:---

1.Mount the server which has MDM server(Name of the server, login, password)

2.Load the Repository

3.Connect the repository while opening Data Manager...etc.

Try this and let me know the result. If it helps to solve ur problem, provide me max points.

Hi,

You need to install all the servers in server

I can see so many components , all these components are must to install

Master Data Server and Layout Server

 MDM Server

 MDM Import Server

 MDM Syndication Server

 MDM Layout Server

and all the MDM clients in the client or server. For example if you want to work in your desktop/laptop then install both server and client in same machine.

Install only the required client u want to work. The most basic ones are Console, Data Manger, Import Manager, worflow and Syndicator.

Install only other clients if it is required.

Hi Kristene and Shiv,

I have a suggestion that you should use Windows XP professional instead of Windows XP Home edition.

Because it is not supporting MDM server.

Please correct me if i am wrong?
