Hello

Can somebody please explain to me why I would be getting the following error message?

This happened while adding fields to the layout of query.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

- See attached file

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

There could be multiple reason for this error. Following are few FYI

Reason#1 In the backend the system is not yet ready to take your request.

Reason#2 There are not objects available in the container / not yet refreshed from system

Reason#3 Network communication between the user (Presentation layer) and backend system.

Reason#4 There are objects but they are authorization specific objects subjected to restricted access.

Hi Ashok,

Yes, I believe it may be reason #2 as this happened while attempting to refresh the data of a saved layout.  Steps would have been as follows,

1.) User opens BOAA

2.) User opens query saved to local machine

3.) User refreshes prompts

4.) User adds field to axis of query

5.) Object Reference Error occurs

As this is a new tool the user is working with I'm assuming reviewing their process would provide an adequate solution to avoid this error in the future.

Hi James,

Layout of query - is that report axis?

Can you please provide a bit more information about what happened right before that mistake? For example, you could have cancelled previous sharing of column/row axis.

Also, steps that you have taken to solve that problem and screenshot of a report will be useful.

Best regards,
Oleksandr.
