prerequisites for before activating business function HCM_MSS_WDA_1 & HCM_MSS_WDA_2

Hi experts,

my basis team unable to identify prerequisites for before activating business function HCM_MSS_WDA_1  & HCM_MSS_WDA_2 .

pls find present configuration details#

• ECC Version: 6.0 EHP-7 SPS-2 (SAP_HR 604 SP-66 ; EA-HR 607 SP-17 )
• ESS Component Version: 633.1.1 (633 SP-1 Patch 1)
• MSS Component Version: 630.1.0 (630 SP-1)
• ESS Business package : BP ERP ESS 1.4.1 SP-11
• MSS Business Package : BP ERP MSS 1.5.1 SP-7 
• SAP PCUI_GP 633

now before enable the business packages , is there any thing needs to take care both sap portal 7.4 & ECC side.

its little bit urgent one.

please let me know if any one have idea on this .

You might have to learn WDA with FPM. Its only needed for custom development.

If we have to develop ESS/MSS app then, thry to understand the existing SAP provided similar app and try to build the new app in similar way.

Before configure standard WDA ESS/Mss  applications in portal , i have few questions, pls clarify#

1. once Activate standard business functions   HCM_ESS_WDA_1 and HCM_MSS_WDA_1 in backend, what are the steps we need to take care from  sap portal 7.4 side

2. what are servies  need to be activated in SICF for ESS & MSS for WDABAP?

3. Before access ESS & MSS PFCG roles in portal , before call shall we do any other activities?

Hi Ram,

1. once Activate standard business functions   HCM_ESS_WDA_1 and HCM_MSS_WDA_1 in backend, what are the steps we need to take care from  sap portal 7.4 side - ping your ESS/MSS Portal - assuming BASIS had really set up the system.

2. what are servies  need to be activated in SICF for ESS & MSS for WDABAP? - SAP HCM / HR Functional guy should guide you - sit with him

3. Before access ESS & MSS PFCG roles in portal , before call shall we do any other activities? - customize role menu through LPD_CUST/ESS , PFCG/MSS - again SAP HCM Functional should guide you

i got requirement is developing WDABAP both ESS & MSS applications to  SAP Portal 7.4 not NWBC - need to understand diff bet EP/NWBC  - mainly on role set up

i am  very new to WDABAP and i don't have much exposure on develping ESS & MSS applicatons - when you had taken up, dig it till the end.

Can anyone help me or pls provide guide how to start developing MSS applications in SAP Portal 7.4 - follow Sid Rajora or SCN, still early stage in your Portal career assuming you from WDJ.

From Basis side, we just take a full backup of the DB before we activate. Also check for enough space in the tablespace. And keep checking sm21 and st22 during the activation.

why backup of DB? Its not required.

for 7.4 you can upload roles from PFCG and no BPs required. read here
