Lock an item master data for an specific warehouse as a purchase item

Hello,

I am working with SAP Business One 8.82 (8.82.075) PL: 11.

I would like to know if it is possible to lock an item master data for an specific warehouse as a purchase item.

As far as I can see this is only possible for sales items.

For example:

We work with 3 warehouses:

Warhouse 1

Warhouse 2

Warhouse 3

I have an article/item master data with item no. REGNTB01SW

I want that ONLY Warhouse 1 can purchase this item (REGNTB01SW).

So warehouse 2 & 3 are not allowed to purchase this item.

Is this possible somehow? Maybe with a workaround?

You can go with transaction notification for all Purchasing documents.

Hi Jeroen,

You can lock a warehouse completely for an item, but unfortunately not just for purchases or sales.

Two workarounds come to mind:

1. The SBO_SP_TransactionNotification stored procedure. You can use this to determine logic that will prevent users from adding and/or updating documents and certain objects, with unwanted settings.
2. An addon that would replace all or part of the normal purchase input process.

Other solutions are:

• Check with your SAP Partner to see if a newer version of B1 provides this functionality
• if not, you can suggest to SAP to develop such functionality (you may want to do this anyway).
• Reconsider your business processes. Maybe you can come with another way of working entirely, to solve the challenge that prompted your question.
