Upgrade 9205 to 10202 - Interim patches to apply

Former Member

Dear all,

I've started with preparations for Oracle upgrade 10.2.0.2 of our test system which is complete homogenous system copy from production.

It's SAP R/3 4.6C with 4.6D_EXT supp. pack 2271, HP-UX 11.11 and Oracle 9.2.0.5

Following the Oracle Upgrade Guide_211, I'm on the point <b>4.1.6 Installing Required Interim Patches</b>.

Until now I have not installed any interim patch on Oracle 8 and 9i for our SAP system.

Is it really necesary to install all of the interim patches (depending on my environment) mentioned in the Note 871096 Oracle Database 10g Patch sets/patches for 10.2.0.???

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Ruzica

Yes,

install the latest patches available. If you get problems with your Oracle installation and you are not using the latest patch, SAP will tell you to update your patch level first.

so yes, install them.

Hello Eric,

I tried to install some patches 5103126, 4460775 and other.

And I got this error:

"<i>OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR=OUI Version: 10.2.0.2.0

OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR=OUI Version: 10.2.0.2.0

OPatch requires OUI 10.1 or earlier.

Cannot set up OUI inventory session.

ERROR: OPatch failed because of Inventory problem."</i>

<b>Why I need earlier version for the OUI???</b>

The patch is for:

#----

  1. Interim Patch for Base Bugs: 5103126

#----

#

  1. DATE: Tue Jun 6 03:38:19 2006

  2. -------------------------------

  3. Platform Patch for : HP-UX PA-RISC (64-bit)

  4. Product Version # : <b>10.2.0.2</b>

  5. Product Patched : RDBMS

Are you still on Oracle 9205? If so, do not install Oracle 10g patches!

If you are on Oracle 10g, ware you using 10.2.0.2? any patches installed so far?

Hello,

I have installed the patch set Oracle 10.2.0.2 first, then stared to apply the interim patches as in the Oracle Upgrade Guide. On the first patch when I tried to install I got this error

cd 5103126

opatch apply

.....

OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR=OUI Version: 10.2.0.2.0

OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR=OUI Version: 10.2.0.2.0

OPatch requires OUI 10.1 or earlier.

Cannot set up OUI inventory session.

ERROR: OPatch failed because of Inventory problem.

Eric,

I'm performing the upgrade and my DB is on 9.2.0.5, but I did the following steps from the guide:

Database Software Installation

Running the Oracle Universal Installer

Installing the Current Patch Set

Now I am on the step for <i>Installing Required Interim Patches</i>

The patches I am applying on the Oracle 10g new environment, not on my 9.2.05 DB.

Now I'm confused.
