Questions Regarding to HANA SPS10 Reducing Downtime Update

Hello Experts,

I am confused about the prerequisites mentioned in part 5.3 Prepare an Update for Reduced SAP HANA system Downtime of SAP HANA Server Installation and Update Guide SPS 10.

It said that:

The SAP HANA system has been installed or updated with the SAP HANA database lifecycle manager (HDBLCM) Support Package Stack (SPS) 10 or later.

So can I update HANA from rev.097 to rev.102 using reducing-downtime update with hdblcm included in rev.102 software.

Regards,

Ning Tong

Hello,

To me :

The SAP HANA system has been installed or updated with the SAP HANA database lifecycle manager (HDBLCM) Support Package Stack (SPS) 10 or later.

means, you are already in SPS10, wether installed from scratch or updated to SPS10.

Moreover, the guide for Hana SPS10 states :

As of SPS 10, you can run an SAP HANA system update in two phases - an update preparation phase and a resume update phase - in order to reduced system downtime.

So you can't use this feature as you are on SPS09.

HTH,

Best regards,

Steve.

Hello Steve,

I made a test using hdblcm within rev.102 initial installation to update HANA from rev.97.01 to rev.102.01 with reduced SAP HANA system downtime, and it succeeded.
