Hi all,

The powers that be are looking for a document (preferrably from SAP) that outlines the differences betwen SAP Control Center for IQ and IQ Cockpit.  Also when/where to use one or the other.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jason,

For IQ, SAP recommends IQ cockpit as it is maintained to support IQ 16 SP 08 new features.

See related SAP note  2096301 :

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2096301

However if you need use one tool to manage together IQ and other SAP servers like ASE, then SCC would be advised : http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2036240

Customer Coffe Corner. IQ cockpit

Thanks Tayeb,

From the links, it looks like:

  1. SAP Control Center is deprecated.  Don't expect anything beyond critical bug fixes.
  2. IQ Cockpit is only for local hosts unless it is multiplex. An environment with dozens of IQ instances would require quite a significant investment in maintenance of the cockpit servers (application of rules, etc). Appears to be loosely modeled after Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  3. No central "Command Center" tool is available from SAP unless you use SAP business applications.

Unfortunately IQ Cockpit still uses Flash.  I have yet to be able to access IQ Cockpit because of it causing the Flash plugin (v19.0.0.226) to crash.  Occurs on IE 8, 9, 10, 11, Firefox 41.02.

Does anyone have IQ Cockpit working that doesn't work for SAP?   I hoping I'm not seeing another half baked application like SCC.
