Hi Gurus

Im doing configuration for fleet but in that while Defining Valid Consumption Unit Im not getting option of Unit as KM/L.

Im Getting option as Liter per 100 km.

But my client was calculation  as KM/Liter.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings Ekta!

Interesting query! If you have a look at the IDES ERP system, you shall observe that there are actually two valid consumption units defined, one being "LHK" or "Litres per 100 kilometres" (which is typical in Europe) and "MPG" which stands for "Miles per US Gallon" (customary for the United States). By analogy to the latter, you should be able to define a "KML" - "Kilometers per litre" unit suitable e.g. in the Netherlands, Denmark and several Latin American or Asian countries.

A bit on dimensions and formulas...

For the litres/100km measurement, your dimension is basically:

l / 100 km = dm^3 / km = (0,1^3)*m^3 / 100000*m = 0,001*m^3 / 100000*m = (10^-8) * m^3 / m = (10^-8) * m^2 >>> meters squared, or "area".

Note that "-8" is the exponent to the SI unit of "M2" (square metre).

For miles per gallon, or indeed kilometres per litre, it's the opposite:

km / l = km / dm^3 = 1000*m / (0,1^3)*m^3 = 1000*m / 0,001*m^3 = (10^6) * m / m^2 = (10^6) * 1/m^2 >>> dimension is "inverse area".

Hence, the "LHK" is defined in the "Area" dimension, and "MPG" in the "Inverse Area" dimension. Talk about covering some ground! Now, we need to define the "KML" unit in a similar way...

Enter t-code CUNI...

Select the dimension "SURINV" (Inverse Area) from the drop-down. Go to "Units of measurement" and define the new unit "KML" with the internal code, descriptions, however many decimal places and rounding you need, and an Exponent of 6.

See this article for more information on how to define the unit: http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SI/Unit+of+Measure+related+settings+in+SAP

Under SPRO > Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Technical Objects > Settings for Fleet Management > Make Settings for Units of Measurement for Monitoring of Consumption

Now you will be able to add the new unit to the "M2" unit group for consumption and then create a calculation using the "KML" unit.

...under SPRO > Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Technical Objects > Settings for Fleet Management > Define Calculation Method for Fleet Consumption Values

Hello ek s,

Just think the difference.

  • When we talk about Consumption it starts with Fuel, means Fuel on the top, means Litres on the top.
  • When we talk about Km per Litre, means Km on the top, means Distance on the top, means we are not talking about the Consumption. We are talking about the Distance. Means we are talking about the Performance of the Vehicle or often we call Average.

So you can not have it where you wanted. You can have it in a simple custom reports by inverting the L/100Km figures.
