Transfer orders to subcontractor where transit time is signigicant

Is there a mechanism for showing stock is still in transit to a sub contractor?  We use a movement type 541 but this puts it into the contractors stock as soon as posted.  This leads to confusion when trying to determine what they can actually do.   The transit time to the sub contractor is up to 6 weeks.

Any advice appreciated.
