Automatic assignment of Characteristic values in customer master

Hi All,

We have a requirement to get the characteristic values automatically as soon as we assign the class. We tried all the options,but, no luck.

Can anyone through some light on this.

What do you mean "get the characteristic values"?   You need to expand on this some.  The values are usually inputted by people manually while in the customer master.  So you have them then and you don't have them until then!  Once you have them in there, what else do you need them for?

Do you want them for a program? For a report?  To be used in some type of valuation?

You need to explain more.

My client wants the default values to come automatically. They dont want to input manually.

Hello Sai,

Please tell us if this default value is a fixed value? or can be change with some particular logic?

Because if I understand your request you can select in values tab the option "D".

This indicator determines whether the value appears as a default.

"Default value: You can define one allowed value as a default value. This value then appears as a default in characteristic value assignment functions. You can either accept the value or select another value. To define a default value, select column D."

Are they static values?  Can they change from customer to customer?

You aremt giving us much to work with here?

Hi Sai,

Please can you explain what do you exactly mean by customer master? Do you mean batch record send to customer?

Please note that the link shared by Xavier has a good screenshot, suggesting how to activate a "default" value for a characteristic. But then, this is still the initial value for the characteristic. At this moment, there is no Quality parameter recorded yet, whether through linkage via MIC or by updating it manually by user. So the question Craig has raised is a very valid one, and explicit explanation is required to understand what your business wants.

As you said, business do not wish to update it manually. Then you have a choice to link a MIC with this characteristic as BATCH CHARACTERISTIC, perform result recording and UD. Please check if by adopting to this process, new result value is getting transferred to the batch characteristics or not, and moreover it is overriding the 'default value' with newly recorded value or not.
