Regions: Gap in Standard between C4C and ERP

Hi all,

we have integrated C4C and ERP using PI. Account and Contact replication is working fine. However, we have noticed that C4C knows a lot more regions per Country compared to ERP. For Example UK: C4C ~300, ERP ~100. Both Systems have been set up in Standard. We have not even added the Fine Tuning activity to our Project. The same holds true for ERP.

Please let me know why there is such a difference. The Problem is that we will run into a lots of failed IDocs if users in C4C have a higher amout of Regions available than ERP is capable of.

Might this be fixed using Code Lists? Is there e.g. an Action Code "DELETE"?

What do you recommend to match Settings in both Systems?

Thanks and regards,

Stefan

Hi Stefan

This issue has not been reported.   Has it caused problems for you?  It could be fixed with code list mapping if required.

Hi Ginger,

well it is going to cause Problems once users add Regions to Customers in C4C which cannot be processed in ERP since the corresponding Region is not maintained.

Our client has requested to define the regions similar to the ones in ERP. Can one use "Business Configuration > Upload Code List" to Delete existing Code List values for Regions in C4C? Doing Manual maintenance in activity Regions is simply not feasible.

Btw: We have opened Incident 3500241594 asking for help by SAP Support.

Thanks and regards,

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

the standard region codes in ERP were created long time ago. The region code list in C4C was created at a much later point in time. The decision was to ship a current region code list with C4C instead of maximal ERP compliance.

The C4C code list upload doesn't support deletions. You can delete region codes in the C4C business configuration but this is a pure manual activity.

It may be easier instead to download the C4C region codes with the codelist download and add the missing ones to ERP to match the settings.

Hi Hermann,

thanks for your help. We have intensified our analysis and found more differences in other countries. For now we have limited ourselves to US, UK, IT, BR and AU. Please check the following mismatches identified for US and IT in SAP Standard. You will notice that there are Regions codes in ERP which are missing C4C and vice versa:

What we are still struggleling to understand is how you from SAP are handeling this in your own (demo) systems. And I cannot believe that such a topic has not come up yet. This could only be true if you have never integrated C4C and ERP yourselves.

What I would expect from SAP for such highly integrated systems is e.g. a SAP Note for ERP to Level the Regions in ERP. This would allow for true "Out-Of-The-Box-Integration".

Thanks and regards,
Stefan
