Validation is required to pick serial no in sequence

Hi,

I have an requirement for validation , whether serial no of a line items are in sequence or not while doing PGI in VL01N ,if serial no are not in sequence for items it should through error, to maintain serial no in sequence. how can I achieve this, Kindly suggest.

what is a serial number? do you mean item number as in lips-posnr??
