SAP EIS and SAP IBP

Hello,

I am having few questions related to SAP's road map for EIS and IBP. It seems the long term strategy of SAP is to use IBP for inventory. Could you please let me know if this is what customers should anticipate?

Also as per installation guide for EIS, it seems it runs on Oracle database only. will it be supported by any other platform in future? Can SAP IBP for inventory used for service parts planning (SPP)?

Please provide some insights on above questions. Thanks for your help!

Regards,

Chandra

Hi Chandra,

The long term strategy of SAP is to use IBP for Inventory, yes, but there is an active customer base using EIS and it is under support through 2020.
You are also correct that EIS can only run on an Oracle database.  There are no plans currently to support any other database platform (HANA, SQL Server, etc).

Unfortunately I can not answer your question on whether IBP for Inventory can be used for service parts planning.
