How to Calculate Average for Dimensions based on a Year

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement where I need to display Average changes across Source in a Year in webi report based on HANA Universe.

I have 4 columns Source(String), Change From(String), Change To(String) and Date(Date(MMDDYY)).

Columns Change from and Change To  values are like below

Changes From       Changes To

0001                         0002

0001                         AP17

0014                         0013

GEPB                       GECB

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi Ravi,

That's a strange requirement. We can calculate Change (From - To) if we have an absolute value, Eg: if a value changed from 100 - 200 then we can say, there was a 100% growth. But in your requirement, the values are String, which is strange. Apart from logically/technically developing a solution for that, how can we really say how many change is it in one of the rows 0001 - AP17? What is the absolute value of 0001 and AP17 here?

Suppose if, we know that 0001 = Absolute value of 10 and AP17  = Absolute value of 100, we can say 900% growth.

I haven't worked with HANA as my source, but still, how can we answer this, forget about using technology?
