Hello Folks

Is it advisable to map Org Unit in CLM with other functional data at Business end.

What is the dependency of Org Unit with ECC & other modules.

In current scenario business is keen to use Org Unit for mapping their different departmental functions if there are no dependencies.

Awaiting your suggestions.

Hi Piyush,

Some of our customers do create Organizational Units in CLM based on their Business Units or Departments.  In my experience, it's been mostly used for reporting purposes.  Many of the standard reports in the system include Organizational Unit in the results set / filters.  It is also sometimes used to drive processes such as workflow so, for example, if there are different approvers involved for different Organizational Units.

There is no dependency on Org Unit for integration with ECC.  There really aren't any dependencies.  Generally, if a customer uses Org Unit, they use it across the different applications within SAP Sourcing / CLM.

My experience is that it's primary purpose is of a reporting nature.

Hopefully, this helps.

Organizational unit is a sub unit of Company in the Organization.

It varies depends upon the clients Org structure. Org unit can be a Business unit, it can be a division, it can be a department and so on.

Talk to your customer, which unit they would like to incorporate in their business so that the same unit exists in the all the connected system for better integration.

Other than the reporting purpose, it's mainly used for which user/unit is creating the business document and where it originates after company level.
