How does PCA handle multiple clients in a system refresh?

Hello,

We have a scenario where some of our systems have one or more clients and my question was about the PCA functionality and how it handles system refreshes for the following scenarios in terms of the SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH_EXPORT and SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH_IMPORT

Case 1) The target system has several clients and the source system only has one

Case 2) The target system has several clients and so does the source system (same number of clients)

For the target system export does the PCA export the configuration for all the clients available in the system (meaning ALE configuration, jobs, etc)?

How does the import work if the source system has less clients than the target system?

Has anyone had any experience with this type of scenarios?

Hi,

PCA does the export and import always for all clients (complete system content). This means for

Case 1

With the system copy only 1 client will be copied to the target system. the PCA has saved the configuration for the other clients in his export phase, but it is only relevant for the one client which is copied.

Case 2

In this case all relevant configurations are saved and will be imported in the target system after client copy (recommended use case)

Thank you for the clarification, does this mean that the export/import procedure can/should be executed from client 000 as well?
