Put * as Values on custom field in PO release strategy

Dears;

I face a problem when I Configure release strategy For PO:

• The customer Requirement is to trigger PO per Creator
• I take Field USRC1 in Cekko and I Mapped it with the fields creator to implement release
• the problem is that I have old releases , When I put on this field * for the old releases it is not impact
• I cannot specify the other creators for the old releases.
• How can I solve this issue.

Did you entered the Value *  during creation of release characteristics?

If yes- what does Value * represent?

Now coming back to your requirement why your business needs PO to triggers release based on PO creator? In a company - PO creator may have 50 or 75 users,how to handle and how to segregate release strategies among users(PO creator/s)

You have multiples option for release characteristics company code,purchasing group and purchase order value{ cost center(if needed)}

Hi bijai:

It is a small department only 10 users.

They already used the mentioned criteria before Purch Grp,Values and so on.

The release on their department is based on position of creator.

Can I add specific characteristic and remove another one based on the release strategy?

Hi,

Redesigning release strategies is typical one - One should be careful on implementation as all purchasing documents having old release strategy against your new designed release strategy!

To suggest- You need share your existing all release characteristics for your PO release class and now business needs for all new release characteristics for an addition. For testing if you trying- you can do so in sandbox only.

But how can I Separate between the old releases and new one?

Specially that I have only one class that I can assign my characteristics.

Now the old releases will be impacted with the new enhanced field " Creator"

It is very difficult to Add all creators on the old releases

What is actually your wanted target scenario for your old POs?

Based on that info we may find a solution.

for the old release : it is restricted by purchase group and per document type.

for the new release it is based on purchase group ,document type and creator of PO.

Based on the position of the creator the po :

for example

First case: if the buyer creates the PO : the Po should go to 3 levels of approvals : 1-Buyer-2-Buyer manager-3-Operation director

Second case : if the buyer manager creates the PO ,it should go to 2 levels of approvals: 1- Buyer manager and 2- Operation director.

Note that I Cannot specify creators as purchase groups as business requirement

For any standard field , the * is working

In classification the * star is not used as generic search, in classification it is always a comparison of absolute values. This means it would only kick in if your old purchasing group was named *

The asterisk (*) symbol will not work in case of release strategy. Please check the OSS note 493900 - FAQ: Release Strategy question no. 14.
