but i require one specific thing like upgrading the tomcat server on unix,or uninstallation of tomcat and going for fresh installation what will be the impact.
Go for up gradation of the Tomcat only. It is easy. UN-installation of Tomcat and going for latest Tomcat may corrupt the .war files. Furthermore if something goes wrong during the up gradation you can blame Apache for spoiling the show
