SAP NW 7.4 upgrade question/clarification

Hi Experts, Portal Side :We are on Portal 7.0 SP20 with ESS 6.03 SP09 , MSS 600 SP19. Backend : ERP 6.0 , EHP4, on SAP NW 7.01. We are planning to upgrade SAP Portal from 7.0 to 7.4 does it mean do we need to perform entire SAP NW stack upgrade from 7.0 to 7.4 ? or can we upgrade only portal and later we can do SAP ECC upgrade to 7.4. All our ESS is on Java components , is there any incompatibility if we upgrade portal to 7.4 and leave backend as 7.1 for now. Thanks Krish

Hello Krish,

You can upgrade one system at the time. There is no restriction having a Portal in a higher version than the ABAP backend.

I recommend you reading the upgrade guides available in the service marketplace.

You can upgrade the portal from NW 7.0 to NW 7.3 (Not on NW 7.4). Kindly refer the SAP Note along with PDF and also refer the upgrade guide from SMP
