oracle doesnt start after kernel/EHP upgrade

i am facing a problem. i had one server on EHP6 with oracle and using solution manager i made mopz then i used sum to upgrade this server to ehp7 oracle version is 11.

after upgrade everything works fine until i restart services. if i restart service all services show started but in MMC it doesnt show database icon and application server doesnt start.

i tried R3trans -d and it gave error 0012

then i check logs it shows ora 1034 and 0ra 27101 error

if i logon to sqlplus it starts databse but still it doesnt start application server

can someone please help me with this issue?

Hello ,

while checking the log its seem some shared memory is not clean properly. shut-down the database force and clean the shared memory memory and also check the listener is running or not. if everything fine from database level and listener than check the port number if set correctly .

Is the oracle service OracleServiceBPD running? this error is showed in windows when the service is down

If the service is running try to startup the database.manually.

try to connect whith: sqlplus / as sysdba

and startup database: startup

OracleServiceBPD is running

oracle starts from :

sqlplus / as sysdba

and startup database: startup

even after startup from sqlplus still i am not able to start application server

Hi Kiran,

Are you still facing the same old Ora errors in trans.log even after successfully starting oracle?
If not, check the dispatcher trace and work process trace for any application level issues.

trans.log should not be big normally. In that case, can you have a look at the log file and show us with the error?

sapsr3/<password>@BPD failed to connect database.

Please try manually log on the database:

sqlplus /nolog

conn sapsr3/<password>@BPD

I believe it will shows the same problem. Then please go to listener.ora file to check if the oracle home maintained in the listener.ora file is the right oracle home.

If everything is ok, please provide me with the result of "lsnrctl status" command result.

I would like to see if ezconnect to database without involve tnsnames.ora is possible.

Oracle home looks correctly registered in the listener. Please double verify this listener.ora file with other system to check if there is problem in this file.

please try to restart oracle windows service and restart listener.

restarted oracle windows services and listener. all services starts correctly. but database doesnt start

is there any chance that i have to update database kernel?

or anyway to regenerate listener ?

Database not start? What is the error?

You can use "net configuration assistant" to regenerate the listener

then i check logs it shows ora 1034 and 0ra 27101 error

Hope you searched initially for the above ORA codes at your end.You can refer SAP Note 491174 - Composite SAP note for ORA-01034

& SAP KBA 1734716 - ORA-01034: Oracle not available for the resolution.
