Is it possible to upgrade BW with downtime minimized?

Hi gurus,

Have you upgraded a BW system using "downtime minimized" (now called standard mode in SUM)?

The reason for the doubt is this note 851449 - "Changeability of BW objects during the upgrade" which makes it sound like data loads could be impacted during the uptime portion of the upgrade.  We are upgrading from 7.31 to NW 7.4 and want to use standard (downtime minimized) if that is possible.

Warm Regards,

CM

Has anyone upgraded a BW system using standard downtime minimized?  The upgrade guide implies it is ok, but note 851449 makes me think otherwise.

Hi Clifton,

The short and sweet answer to you question is yes you can.

Just bear in mind that once you reach step REPACHK your data dictionary/workbench will be locked and you wont be able to make changes in your live (non shadow) instance.

Hi CM

SAP Note 851449 refer of  SAP BW version from 2.0 to 7.1(Not on NW 7.31 & 7.4). You are going to upgrade from NW 7.31 to 7.4, Kindly refer the SAP Upgrade guide and if possible first you can perform in Test / Sandbox system to calculate over all the time

Refer the SAP upgrade from SAP link SAP NetWeaver Guide Finder
