HANA Replication Error - source system and target system have overlapping logical hostnames

Dear Experts,

We have done HANA DB failover and failback. After the failback to primary host, the replication is not working. When we tried to register secondary, we are getting the below error.

Could you please let us know how to resolve this ?

Issue has been resolved by editing the the nameserver.ini file in secondary host.

Change was done by HP support team as below,

Old Entry : roles_<primary-host> = worker

Update one: roles_<secondary-host> = worker

I would suggest not using underscore in logical or physical hostnames. I see that in your command you have used name=PD1_secondary

we were able to enable primary with name=PD1_primary. System replication was fine until the failover/failback with underscore before. If we change now the name, do we need to change any other settings accordingly ?

hdbnsutil -sr_register --name=PD1_secondary --mode=sync --remoteHost=<primary_host> --remoteInstance=00 --force_full_replica

Replace the keywords as neccessary and post the output.

Hello Pradeep,

Not sure what seems to be the issue in the case. You may want to consider unregistering the secondary host/instance and re-registering it using hdblcm, but check documentation around it.

I am assume you are using <sid>adm to re-register your system, the trace file seems to suggest that the command cannot attach to shared memory of some sort and or environment.

Also,

Have you ensured that the primary is up and running correctly by executing the following on primary (as <sid>adm).

/usr/sap/<sid>/HDB<instancenr>/exe/hdbnsutil -sr_state
