Afaria 7 Client Enrollment issue (Win32)

Former Member
0 Kudos

When installing Afaria client on a WINXP client , we found that enrolment policy only gets executed  during the installation.

As a result, if the installation happens with no(or poor)network connectivity in place, the device would not be able to execute the enrolment policy, therefore device communication will be permanently lost unless a connection manually forced from device.

Question 1: is there any settings in Afaria to allow the enrolment policy to be executed again if the previous execution failed.

Question 2: is it possible to use command line on client to make the device connection to server(the xeclient.exe seems to be able to make the connection , if it is so, can you please share the help for this executable)?

Hello David,

the purpose of the XP/2003 enrollment policy is to create the Win32 client only. Here you can specify all required settings for the Afaria server connection. If everything is configured as required it's possible to download the win32 setup file.

For Q2: We recommend to configure an Afaria schedule for Win32 connections.

David,

Addirionally, If the client didn't connect the first time, it will actually have the seed data imbedded in the client install.   Opening the client and hitting connect will allow it to connect to the Afaria server and create the client record.  That should be all that is needed.
