Can't install Oracle 12c on windows :-(

Dear Experts,

I am trying to install a test system in VMware on Windows and Oracle 12c.

At the second screen of the OUI, I am getting a very weird error:

[INS-30131] Initial setup required for the execution of installer validations failed.

Cause - Failed to access the temporary location.

Action - Ensure that the current user has required permissions to access the temporary location.

Additional Information:

- Framework setup check failed on all the nodes

- Cause: Cause Of Problem Not Available

- Action: User Action Not Available

Summary of the failed nodes <hostname>

- Version of exectask could not be retrieved from node "<hostname>"

- Cause: Cause Of Problem Not Available

- Action: User Action Not Available

I have been googling and found a lot of suggestions on how to solve it:

1. Set the TEMP and TMP variables to C:\TEMP, where I gave it Full control to all the users.

2. Enable the Administrative share: net user \\localhost\c$

3. Set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System DWORD value LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy to 1

Set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters DWORD value AutoShareWks to 1

4. Getting rid of the OracleRemExecServiceV2 service.

5. Deleting everything from the temp directory/directories and restarting OUI

I have tried all this and no luck - I'm still stuck with this error. Kindly advise on how to resolve it!

Thanks!

summary of failed notes  indicates that the installation is running on a Failover Cluster?

right?

If so, be sure to run the installation as a domain user which is member of the local administrators group on all Failover Cluster nodes?

best regards

Hi,

Could you check for enough space on the system ? In addition try to restart the system once & share the result for command

net use \\localhost\c$

Hi Gaurav and many thanks for the quick reply!

Yep, there is more than enough space... I have just restarted the system.

D:\SAPCD\oracle12\51047709\database\SAP>net use \\localhost\c$

The command completed successfully.

The error is still there, I just tried again...

Hi Symon

1.  Are  you having administrator or equivalent privileges to execute the Oracle installation?

2. Disable the firewall and UAC on VM.

3. Check this SAP Note for Oracle 12c

1914631 - Central Technical Note for Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1)

4. Could you share the windows OS version?

Regards

Hi, I have read about this as well, but the hostname is 3 letters, equal to the SID.

Hi Symon  ,

The following line is from the error message you shared in your first post

"Summary of the failed nodes <hostname>"

Is the error message like the following  or you modified removed the actual hostname from the error message .

"Summary of the failed nodes <Your Hostname>"

Why i am asking is the installer  the error message should have been as follows if the installer detects the hostname correctly  [ eg your hostname is PRD ]

Summary of the failed nodes PRD

- Version of exectask could not be retrieved from node "<hostname>"

- Cause: Cause Of Problem Not Available

- Action: User Action Not Available

Thanks ,

Manu

Hi S,

1. Yes

2. Done

3. The note is a common blah-blah, I already know most of the things described there.

Though the following references were looking quite interesting:

SAP Note 1915299Troubleshooting Software Installation for 12.1.0.2

but it says:

Installation issues on Microsoft Windows

Currently none.

SAP Note 1915302 - Database Software 12.1.0.2 Installation on Windows

  Translation is possibly not up-to-date

  Document is not released

OK, then let's assume that both the hostname and SID are PRD.

And the error message does include the correct SID (PRD).

Alas .

If i were you i will do the following

Set  TEMP and TMP variables to D:\TEMP or any other  drives available  , Give all the permissions  [ Please dont ask why  but  I will  give a try ]

Lets wait for some expert comments

Thanks ,

Manu
