CVC creation for CBF in background

Hi,

We are doing characteristic based forecasting in APO. CVCs are being created as follows for each material in the foreground:

1. Create a CBF table

2. Create a CBF profile and assign the CBF table to it

3. Assign the profile to the material

4. Create CVCs

How can we achieve the same in background? We know that step 4 can be executed in background and that the same CBF table can be used for multiple materials. But how can we carry out steps 2 and 3 in background for mass products? Is there any standard process for it or will it involve customization?

Regards,

Yogesh

Hi Yogesh,

Is there any particular business reason why you would need to have CBF profile and assignment of CBF table needs to be done via background. Generally, CBF table, CBF profile and assignment of table to profile is a one time activity which is performed during implementation. Also after activation of CBF profile, it needs to be assigned to corresponding CBF planning area. yes, CVCs can be regenerated each time as per need and same can be used for forecast release. Not sure, if creation of above configs has any standard process to be executed in background mode though.

Hi Alok,

Thanks for your response.

The business requirement is as follows:

1. We need to do CBF in APO for KMAT materials

2. CVCs need to be created only for relevant combinations based on the sales history

3. CVC creation needs to be automated, such that if the sales history is available for a new combination of characteristics, the CVCs need to be created for it. This needs to be done daily

Another important requirement which was not explicitly stated in the previous post is that in case of a new material, we need to automatically create a CBF profile and assign it to the material. Is that possible to achieve it using standard method?
